My background: I grew up in the Pittsburgh area and except for a short time when I lived and taught in Maryland, I have lived in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh most of my life.
Education: 2009-Ph.D. in English: Composition & TESOL Indiana University of Pennsylvania 2002- PA ESL Specialist Certificate 1998-M. Ed in English, Language Arts, Communication University of Pittsburgh 1976-BS in Elementary Education and French Education Slippery Rock University
Work Experience: I have taught ESL for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, and worked in advertising and writing as a newspaper reporter, editor and freelance writer. In 1991 I started teaching ESL for Franklin Regional School District. Since then, there have been over 165 English Language Learners from over 48 different countries in the program in grades K-12. In the Spring of 2008 I was elected President of Three Rivers TESOL, the western PA affiliate to the International TESOL organization. I remain on the Three Rivers TESOL board. In 2011 I was elected to the International TESOL Affiliate Leadership Council.

Interests: I like to read, write and sing. I also like to work with arts and crafts, and knit. I enjoy doing things with my husband and two sons and extended family, one of whom is my twin sister.
