Congratulations Spencer Lee!  Spencer capped an amazing run at the PIAA state wrestling championships by winning his third consecutive gold medal.  He did so in astounding fashion by pinning his first three opponents in the first period.  The championship match saw Spencer win by a 15-0 technical fall over a previously undefeated opponent.  For his efforts, he was named the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler.  To view highlights of each of Spencer's matches, please click on the link below.

World Gold

Spencer Lee claimed gold at the UWW Junior World Freestyle Wrestling Championship on 8/15/15 in Salvador, Brazil.  Spencer claimed the 50kg title in dominating fashion by earning a technical fall over each of his opponents.  His total score on the day was an astounding 54-4.  Spencer won the gold medal match in a mere 48 seconds.

Spencer Lee - U.S. Junior Freestyle Champion

Congratulations to our own Spencer Lee who won the U.S. Junior Freestyle Championship in dominant fashion.  He will now represent the U.S. at the world championships which will be held in August in Brazil.  Spencer captured the world championship at the Cadet level this past summer.

Franklin Regional Student-Athletes in grades 7-12 can compete in 14 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association(PIAA) recognized sports.

District 7, better known as the WPIAL(Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League), is 1 of 12 districts governed by the Constitution and By-Laws of the PIAA.

Competing in the WPIAL, boys & girls from Franklin Regional compete against students from 143 districts in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Washington, Westmoreland, & other surrounding counties.
