Assignments
Math - May 13-17 and 20-24: We are working with decimals. Students need to understand the meaning of decimals, so it helps if you demonstrate with familiar items at home (ie: food or measurements in the kitchen or other commonplace things).
Students absolutely need to practice multiplication facts for speed and accuracy. The lack of competency with the facts is causing difficulty with completion of Math work for many students, and will affect their work on this unit (decimals) and future units, as well as all Math work in the future.
Reading - May 13-17 : We are using Theme 5. Students have the vocabulary and skills sheets in their binders. We have been going over the 3 elements of a good story: character, plot, setting, and working on the importance of understanding the sequence of events.
Thursday, May 16 - Weekly Test: Lesson 24 (tentative)
Social Studies - Region: The Southeast - student packets and a copy of the assignment schedule for parents were distributed Friday, April 12. The final test for this region will be given on Thursday, May 16. Students should be able to go discuss all notes and information about this region with you.
Parents: Keep the single sheet copy of schedule for all assignments, quizzes, and tests; a student copy of the schedule is attached to their packet; check schedule page for due dates
Thurs., 5/16 - Final Test: The Southeast Region - students should study all the notes in their packets; they will have a packet of the quizzes given during this unit; and the text.
