   Mock Trial Team Westmoreland County 2013 finalists

 FR Mock Trial Team: 2013 Westmoreland County Finalists  

The Mock Trial team had another successful season, placing second in Westmoreland County. The team had an unbeaten record in the playoffs and put on an excellent performance in the final against Greensburg-Salem.  The next team meeting is after school on April 23 (Tuesday). Westmoreland Interscholastic Reading Competition Club   

WIRC members ready to leave for Seton Hill on March 27 

 

On March 27, five teams - the Freshmores, the Faulty Stars, the Real Stars, the Future Stars, and Warm Milk - travelled to Seton Hill to take part in the high school division of the Westmoreland Interscholastic Reading Competition.  All the teams did very well and had a great time.  Congratulations to all team members! Any student who would like to join the team for next year should talk to Mr. McDonnell.

 

Finding the right book @ your library® 

Destiny is our new online catalog. It works just like Athena and Infocentre but it's much more user-friendly and accessible - click here to use Destiny from home!

Online research resources:

  • Sirs Knowledge Source is easy to navigate and is a great source for social studies and current affairs research. If you are using SIRS Knowledge Source from home the username is pl2211h (that's P-L-2211-H)  and the password is 15668.
  • Ancestry Library Edition from Proquest has birth, death, marriage, census, military service, and emiigration records from the U.S and many other countries.  It cannot be accessed from home due to licensing restrictions by Ancestry.com.

 

  

  • PowerLibrary is an excellent research resource with databases on a wide range of subjects, from literature to the physical and social sciences.  When you're at school use the PowerLibrary link on this page or the one on the start menu.  

 

  • You can also search PowerLibrary from home via the PowerLibrary links at the Delmont Public Library and the Murrysville Community Library  websites. You will need a patron number, so if you are not already a member you now have a good reason to join.

 

cite it right @ your library®

It's really not that difficult to cite correctly. If you can follow an example, you can do perfect MLA citation. You don't need to remember everything, we have MLA citation manuals in the library that you can borrow. Also, the Online Writing Lab at Purdue University has an MLA guide with lots of examples.  Add it to your bookmarks and use it for all your assignments!!
