Design Goals

Construction Header

Environmental and Sustainability Factors

  • To create environmental classroom spaces using the natural spaces surrounding the Sloan Campus (streams, trees, wetlands, etc.)
  • To create outdoor recreation spaces for both student and community usage (trails, fishing areas, gardens, etc.)
  • To utilize natural light throughout both buildings to enhance learning environment and reduce energy costs
  • To utilize modern and green HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and building technologies to create resource efficiencies and long-term operational savings

Innovation Centers

Two large and one smaller Student Innovation Centers will be located in three areas of the K-2 building. The Centers will provide students with STREAM (science, technology, research, engineering, arts, and mathematics) learning experiences. The Centers will house state-of-the-art equipment, where hands-on learning will take place for all levels of education.

Creative Arts/STREAM Classrooms

These specialty classrooms will cater to the needs of students who are learning about creative arts such as painting, drawing, animation, etc. The classrooms will enable other educational areas such as mathematics and science to be incorporated into the learning process.

Learning Support Classrooms
Unlike prior school layouts, the new design places Learning Support Classrooms in close proximity to each classroom in each grade level. This allows for better use of a student's time and eliminates the need to have students travel across the building for increased learning experiences.
