Parent Resources
Parents often ask us for additional information on a variety of topics. These topics range from school readiness to dealing with pre-adolescent issues. These are some websites that you may find helpful in supporting your child's social, emotional, and behavioral growth. You may also want to check out our Parent Resource section in the Sloan library.
What is SAFE?
SAFE is Franklin Regional's Student Assistance Program (SAP). It is a team made up of school and community agency staff that work together to help you access school and community services for your child.
If your child is having trouble in or out of school, we can help you. There may be times when you just don't know how to help your child. That's okay, someone else may know how to help.
A child may be referred to the SAFE program by a parent, teacher, or other staff member. A friend or family member can also let the SAFE team know that they are worried about someone.
If someone other than the parent has referred a child, then the parent is contacted and permission is requested. Once permission is received, you the parent, become an important part of a planning process to find help for your child. Our team will come up with a plan of action to help your child achieve success in school. The plan might include services and activities in school and / or services from a community agency. The team will continue to work with and support your child. They will stay in touch with you regarding your child's progress. Your continued involvement is very important.
Please feel free to call your child's school counselor to discuss any concerns that you may have. The SAFE team and the school will respect you and your child's privacy at all times.
